Interventions

We understand that animal guardians face dilemmas that lead to abandonment. We work to prevent these outcomes by offering resources and guidance to help guardians and their companions through tough situations.

Meet Henry, Our Latest Success Story

Facing serious uncertainty with his housing situation which put the future of his four pit bulls in jeopardy, Henry reached out to us to find a future where they could stay together. We were able to leverage the power of the Famous Fido community, online fundraising resources and plain old hard work to find alternatives. Only weeks later, Henry and his companions have found a new landing spot with the resources to make the transition.

Past Successes

“I called Famous Fido in tears ready to see if they would be able to take my cat in but instead I spoke with Brian who was not only very helpful but empathetic as well. He let me speak with the owner and she was absolutely amazing!!!!! Not only did I not have to give up my cat but she also helped with her medical bill.”

Candace Gray, Google Reviews

“When my cat Star reached 1 he started spraying horribly. I explained I tried so many places for low cost options but with covid none of them were taking regular appointments. You have to email and just wait. I had been waiting for over a month. Gloria really made sure I was serious about keeping Star. She flew into action like a pet superhero and saved my boy. Two days later he was able to get shots, microchipped, and neutered. He is now home resting and recovering. Thank you Gloria, staff ,and all who donated to make the intervention program happen! “

Intervention Resources

Counseling

Though we can’t solve every problem, we will always let you know your options to avoid surrendering your companion. We often don’t know what help is out there until we ask. So don’t hesitate to contact us with your specifics and find out.

Veterinary Care

We know that vet bills can be daunting in both routine and life and death situations. As responsible guardians, we need to be prepared for these possibilities. But we know life happens and we offer all the help we can on a case by case basis.

Community

Facing challenges life throws at us is always easier with friends at our side. We are not only a rescue. We are also a pillar of a community that includes vets, temporary fosters and donors who want to see you and your companion succeed in hard times.

The tragic alternatives

0M
Dogs and cats enter the shelter system every year.
0
Are euthanized due to overcrowding, illness and behavioral issues.
0%
Are suffering from untreatable conditions causing severe pain.

Because there is no governing body requiring shelters and rescues to keep exact statistics on euthanasia rates, these numbers are likely undercounted. And while there has been a downward trend since 2011 thanks to increased adoption rates and the efforts of No-Kill advocacy groups, the statistics are still far too high. The situations leading to these statistics are highly preventable.

Are You an Animal Guardian Looking for Support?

We want to help. Send us a message describing your situation in as much detail as possible. We will reach back out as soon as we can. We are a non-profit community resource, and so we may not be able to find a perfect solution right away. But we do everything in our power to help animal companions and guardians who share our vision of a happy, humane society.
