Adoption

The process of adoption is a life-long commitment. Many animals have special needs, behavioral challenges, are seniors or are a part of a bonded pair. That’s why we work to make sure each new family addition is a good fit for the animal and their new guardian.

Steps to Adopting

You Apply Online

Each animal’s profile has a link to an application asking for information about your past experiences with animals and available resources to care for your new companion.

We Review the Application

We consider every application carefully to ensure that our furry friends find the right home. If we think it’s a good fit, we will reach out by phone or email.

Meet & Greet is Scheduled

At our meeting, you’ll have a chance to speak with our adoption coordinator, ask any questions you have, and of course, spend time with a new friend.

What We Are Looking For

Responsibility

When you adopt you gain a companion & become a guardian. Your new family member counts on you to provide for them.

Compatibility

Some of the animals we rescue are deemed “unadoptable” elsewhere. To set everyone up for success, we take care to find the right fit.

Preparedness

Many guardians-to-be sometimes overlook key details such as rental agreements, financial security, time availability or household buy-in.

Awareness

All animals take time to adjust to new surroundings. It is important to anticipate challenges so they can be overcome.

Knowledge

Happy & healthy companions are well-fed & understood by their guardians. Knowing how to do these things is critical.

Flexibility

Animal companionship is a two-way street. Welcoming a new family member is a big change for humans and animals alike.
