Adopted

Elmo

Breed: Yorkie
Age: 12 years old
Sex: Male

His Story

Elmo spent his whole life with his family, bringing them love and joy, and he hoped that it would last forever. His family surrendered him to our center because he has a heart murmur and can’t hold his bladder – which generally comes with the territory when caring for a senior dog. In kill shelters, seniors historically are euthanized to make space for younger, more adoptable dogs. It’s so sad when someone can give an animal their love in their final years, and then their life is tragically cut short. Elmo won’t be at risk of euthanasia at our center, but we don’t want him to continue to grow old with us. He should be sharing these special years with a loving family and made to feel important. He is good with other dogs and even children.

His Sponsorship

Elmo will need sponsoring for his daily needs in center, including for his food, housing, and veterinary care. Enrichment is a very important part of his rescue journey, and he would love to receive care packages with toys and treats for comfort and for play. Elmo loves bully sticks!
